Police Shun Falana’s Warning, Transfers Wanted Delta King Ikolo To Army

The traditional King of Ewu in Delta state, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukeywe, who voluntarily surrendered himself to police on Thursday after being declared wanted by the Army, has been transferred to the military over the killing of 17 soldiers and their commanding officers earlier this month in Okuama.

Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the transfer, which happened after Ikolo submitted himself to law enforcement agents.

Citing several cases, a Human Rights Activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, had released a statement on Thursday that the Army had no business declaring suspects wanted.

Falana said that it was the constitutional and statutory duty of the police to declare criminals and suspects wanted, and the Army would be bungling the case by usurping such a responsibility.
