President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joked about him falling at the Eagles Square Abuja on Wednesday morning, June 12.

At a Banquet Dinner to celebrate the day on Wednesday, the President spoke about the falling accident that happened earlier that morning, saying, being a Yoruba person, he prostrated as a mark of respect for Nigerian democracy.

He joked: “I did my dobale this morning as a Yoruba boy for Democracy Day”.

The President was mounting the parade vehicle when he missed a step and fell.

Video clips of the incident trended on social media with mixed reactions of empathy, sympathy and mocking.

Responding to the brouhaha, Tinubu said the fall was him prostrating as a mark of respect to Nigeria for the 25 years of unbroken democracy.

Describing his fall as “swagger,” the President said: ‘’Early this morning I had a swagger and it is on the social media.

“They are confused whether I was doing Buga or doing Babariga.

“But it is a day to celebrate democracy while doing dobale (prostration) for the day. I am a traditionally Yoruba boy, I did my dobale (prostration)”
