A Federal High Court in Zamfara has denied an ex-parte request from a faction of the People’s Democratic Party, backed by the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed, to hold the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The faction sought the court’s approval to convene the NEC meeting as internal tensions within the party continued to escalate.
Justice Salim Ibrahim, presiding over the case, declined the request and postponed further hearings until October 25.
The party has been embroiled in a leadership and organizational dispute that has seen it split into factions..
