Senator Bamidele Heads Senate’s Multi-Party Committee For Rivers Emergency Govt

The Nigerian Senate has put together an 18-man committee for Rivers State in respect of the Emergency Rule declared there by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Constituted in furtherance of its constitutional mandate and commitment to transparent governance, the Senate named the multi-party that has majority from the ruling APC with 13 members, PDP – 3, Labour – 1 and NNPP – 1.

It will be chaired by Senator Opeyemi Michael Bamidele (Ekiti Central).

Charging the committee to commence its oversight duties without delay, Senator Godswill Akpabio said the composition of the committee might be subject to review following further consultations.

The committee, alongside members constituted by the House of Reps, will provide legislative oversight on the activities of the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.).

The members are:

  1. Opeyemi Michael Bamidele (Ekiti Central) – Chairman – APC
  2. Rufai Sani Hanga (Kano Central) – Deputy Chairman – NNPP
  3. Peter Onyekachi Nwaebonyi (Ebonyi North) – APC
  4. Idiat Oluranti Adebule (Lagos West) – APC
  5. Kaka Shehu Lawan (Borno Central) – APC
  6. Ede Omueya Dafinone (Delta Central) – APC
  7. Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori Ahmed (Jigawa North East) – APC
  8. Osita Bonaventure Izunaso (Imo West) – APC
  9. Ireti Heebah Kingibe (FCT,) – Labour Party
  10. Osita Ngwu (Enugu West) – PDP
  11. Simon Bako Lalong (Plateau South) – APC
  12. Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole (Edo North) – APC
  13. Adeniyi Ayodele Adegbonmire (Ondo Central) – APC
  14. Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central) – PDP
  15. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East) – APC
  16. Amin Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central) – PDP
  17. Asuquo Ekpeyong (Cross River South) – APC
  18. Mohammed Sani Musa (Niger East) – APC
  19. Charles Bala – Clerk/Secretary of the Committee.
