Saudi Arabia has granted permission for the interment of renowned Kano Nigerian businessman and Billionaire, Aminu Dantata, to take place in Madina today Monday.
The Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Billionaire, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, confirmed the development in a post on his Facebook handle.
Dantata died at the age of 94 years in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and was said to have written a will for the family to bury him in Madina after his demise beside his second wife, Hajiya Rabi Aminu Dantata.
The Elder Statesman died early morning on Saturday, June 28.
His Principal Private Secretary, who broke the news in a post on Facebook, wrote: “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings.”
Dantata, who was uncle to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, lost his wife, Hajiya Rabi Aminu Dantata, in April 2023.
She passed away at a hospital in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was buried in Medina.
Mama Rabi, as she was popularly known, battled a prolonged illness before passing away in her late 70s.
She was the second wife of Aminu Dantata.
Junaid posted on his Facebook handle that “an approval has been gotten to move the corpse of Aminu Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina for the burial tomorrow, Monday morning”.
Hundreds of dignitaries, including businessmen, politicians and top government officials on Saturday observed the funeral prayer in absentia for the renowned businessman in Kano.
The funeral prayer held at Umar Bin Khattab was led by the Chairman of the Kano State Council of Ulamas, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil.
