Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho, has expressed happiness that he survived former President Muhammadu Buhari, who opposed his battle against killer herdsmen in Yorubaland South-West.

Buhari was reported dead on Sunday in London after a brief illness, aged 82.

Igboho in a video alleged the late President allegedly sent operative sof the Department of State Services, DSS, to invade his Ibadan residence at midnight.

Insisting that the invasion was aimed at killing him, Igboho also alleged that the former President acted in collusion with some unnamed Yoruba indigenes.

He said, “I thank God for my life today, see life! The man that sent DSS to come and kill me in the middle of the night on July 4th 2021 has died today.

“My people, we are supposed to learn from this. That man, Muhammadu Buhari is dead, but I’m alive today. I thank God for my life.

“The man that ganged up with some stupid Yoruba people came to my house to take my life but God said no”.

He rose to prominence as an activist calling for the creation of an independent Yoruba nation, citing what he described as systemic marginalization, insecurity, and economic neglect of the South-West under successive Nigerian governments. His outspoken agitation often put him at odds with federal authorities.

In 2021, during Buhari’s presidency, Nigerian security forces raided Igboho’s residence in Ibadan.

They killed two of his associates and declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling weapons and inciting violence.

Igboho fled the country and was later arrested in Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany, sparking a diplomatic standoff and protests across the South-West, where dignitaries and admirers demanded his release.
