Nigeria’s Super Falcons came back from two goals down to overwhelm hosts Morocco 3–2 in an exciting Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final on Saturday.
This makes it the 10th time the Nigerian girls would be winning the cup.
The Nigerians had set out to Morocco to accomplish what they called MISSION X.
Morocco led 2–0 in the first half, after Ghizlane Chebbak opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
Sanaâ Mssoudy doubled the tally in the 24th minute.
However, the Super Falcons found renewed strength after the break.
Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty in the 64th minute to reduce the deficit, before Folashade Florence Ijamilusi equalised for Nigeria in the 71st minute.
With just two minutes to the blast of the final whistle, the Super Falcons struck again via Jennifer Echegini.
