The son of a late founding father of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, has announced his immediate resignation from the group.

Ose Anenih, himself a prominent member of PDP, communicated his exit via a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of PDP in Arue Ward 3, Uromi, Edo State.

He cited personal reflection and the need to prioritise family and other responsibilities as the driving factors behind his decision.

In his resignation letter, Anenih described the decision as one reached after careful consideration, emphasizing his deep connection to the PDP.

“From the very beginning, I have stood with the PDP through its triumphs and its trials, bound by a belief in the promise of Nigerian democracy and in the ideals that first drew me to the Umbrella,” he wrote.

He expressed gratitude for the friendships, lessons, and opportunities to serve that shaped his political and personal journey within the party.

Anenih, however, stated that he is stepping away from partisan politics to focus on family and other pressing commitments.

Despite his exit from the PDP, he reaffirmed his dedication to Nigeria’s progress, pledging to remain active in intellectual and civic discussions aimed at improving governance and the welfare of Nigerians.

“Ideas, policy, and principled debate remain essential tools for shaping our nation’s future, and I look forward to playing my part in that work,” he noted.

The resignation letter also conveyed appreciation to the PDP’s leadership and members for their support and camaraderie over the years.

Anenih wished the party well and expressed optimism for a Nigeria that fulfills its potential for all citizens.
