The death of comedian Adetola Samad, popularly known online as “Sanku,” has sparked fresh wahala for the alleged guarantor for an unpaid car loan on a Lexus brand the deceased purchased for N25.4 million.
Sanku died in a crash with the car, in an accident along Ogbomoso Road, Oyo State, on September 2, 2025.
He had reportedly bought the 2012 Lexus RX 350 from an Ilorin dealer for ₦25.4 million but was yet to complete payment.
Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka (Finest), who stood as guarantor, said the late comedian deposited ₦7m and had paid up to ₦12.28m before the accident, leaving a balance of about ₦13m.
He denied claims linking him to Sanku’s death, stressing he only helped in the deal.
But a close friend alleged that Sanku was pressured to return the Lexus for a cheaper Toyota Venza, a move he resisted over fears of being cheated.
Sanku had proudly unveiled the SUV on TikTok in June, writing: “Alhamdulillah for life, congratulations Adetola.”
Just three months later, the luxury ride became the centre of controversy following his tragic death.
*When content creator Zanku died on 2nd September 2025, some people questioned how he had been able to afford a car of such value after just a few years of creating content, speculating that he must have done money rituals, which they believed led to his death. I laughed at their ignorance…
I had made a post when he died in a motor accident, stating that many people do not understand that most celebrities, and even non-celebrities, buy expensive cars on credit or instalment payment.
Now, there’s a story going online about a fellow content creator who said on TikTok that people were dragging him, claiming he caused Zanku’s death because he was disturbing him to pay his car loan, for which he stood as guarantor.
He said Zanku died in a loaned 2012 model Lexus RX 350 SUV, which was meant to be returned to the dealer in Ilorin for a cheaper car when he couldn’t pay the balance.
According to the fellow content creator, Finest, who stood as the guarantor for the late comedian, Zanku told him that he needed a Lexus worth 27 million naira.
In a receipt issued by JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited, dated June 5, 2025, and shared by the content creator during a TikTok livestream on Monday after his death sparked a row over the unpaid loan car, Zanku had only paid 7 million naira as initial payment at the time of purchase.
He said he was only a guarantor; it was because the car dealer knew him that he only helped Zanku to get the loan car that he only paid 7 million naira to acquire the vehicle and began paying in instalments until he had only paid 12,280,000 out of 27 million.
Many of these people do not pay for the cars they purchase; they only pay instalments. I also mentioned then that I knew someone whose income was too low, but he was driving a car worth 25 million naira, and he had only paid 4 million to get the car early this year.
Even the 4 million was the money he collected from the group monthly contribution money .
