The assailants who were said to be around six in number, were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, which included machetes, sticks and knives.

Although the driver managed to escape unhurt, the vehicle was severely damaged.

Adedamola confirmed the attack when contacted by our reporter.

According to him, the incident might appear to be robbery, but it was a planned attempt to eliminate him.

” It is true that my vehicle was attacked by unknown assailants, on Friday last week. The driver escaped death by the whiskers. Obviously I was the target, since it was well-known that I usually drive myself.

This is a continuation of plans to eliminate me by forces who consider me to be a threat to their corrupt practices. I can say categorically that this attack was politically motivated.

Before now, I have been receiving strange phone calls and I have observed strange trailing. To confirm that the threat was real, I received an anonymous call three days to the attack, advising me to be extra vigilant, and if possible, go under cover for now, because there might be attack on me and it might come under the guise of accident or robbery.

Incidentally, I was on the verge of formally writing to security agencies of this security threat, when this happened”, he said.
