JABU Varsity Hails Amupitan As New INEC Chairman

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) has congratulated its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, on his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Amupitan has since been sworn into the seat of INEC Chairman vacated by Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

Professor Amupitan’s confirmation came after a successful screening session held at the National Assembly, Abuja, on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

In a congratulatory message shared on the university’s official Facebook page, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor O.A. Fakolujo, expressed delight over the appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of Professor Amupitan’s exceptional leadership, integrity, and commitment to national development.

“The Management, Staff, and Students of Joseph Ayo Babalola University rejoice with you on this remarkable achievement,” the statement read. “We wish you a successful and impactful tenure as you contribute your wealth of experience to the advancement of democracy in our nation.”

JABU is owned by the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC.

Amupitan is an Elder in Christ Apostolic Church, worshipping and serving at the English Assembly of CAC Home of Signs and Wonders, Dutse, Jos, under Orekoya Region.
