The primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have produced Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola as the Governorship Candidate for the August 2026 election.
At the party’s primary election held on Tuesday at Adolak Hall in Osogbo, the state capital, Adedamola garnered 919 votes to clinch the ticket.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on August 8, 2026 conduct the Osun governorship election.
Adedamola emerged after Ademola Adeleke, whose name had initially been listed for the contest, formally resigned from the PDP.
According to the electoral commission, two aspirants were initially vying for the PDP ticket, but Governor Ademola Adeleke resigned from the party late on Monday.
Announcing the results of the primaries, Chairman of the electoral committee, Humphrey Abba, said: ”Void votes 20. We told you earlier that one of the aspirants withdrew.
“The candidate that got the remaining votes is Adebayo Adedamola with 919 votes and stands elected and returned.”
