The African Democratic Congress (ADC), South West Zone strongly condemns the reported attack by gunmen on His Excellency Peter Obi, Chief John Oyegun, and other ADC leaders and members in Edo State.
This disturbing incident is an attack on democracy and a threat to peaceful political participation.
No individual or group should be subjected to violence for exercising their constitutional rights.
We call on security agencies to immediately investigate this incident, ensure the safety of all political leaders and supporters, and bring those responsible to justice without delay.
The ADC remains resolute in its commitment to peace, democratic principles, and the rule of law.
Violence and intimidation will not deter our collective resolve to build a better Nigeria. Nigeria’s democracy must be protected, and political engagement must remain peaceful and issue based.
