Babatunde, a struggling Lagos tailor with no customers for five years, was introduced by a friend to a Babalawo who gave him a small covered pot to bury in his shop. After initial pigeon-blood preparation, the pot demanded human blood year after starting with newborn blood to keep his suddenly booming business, money, cars, and houses, He couldn’t stop or everything would vanish, so for years he bought newborns from a doctor, drained their blood into the pot, and re-buried it.
One year, when renewing the sacrifice, the mother refused to believe her baby had died, Police investigated, the doctor confessed he sold the baby to Babatunde, and Babatunde was arrested. He led police to his shop, where they found the pot with fresh blood. He admitted burying the baby’s body, police exhumed it, Babatunde died in custody a few days later, while the doctor received a 25-year prison sentence.
