I dated this guy for 3 good years.
Everything about him seemed fine. He didn’t have any serious issues, and I always prayed and hoped that one day I would become his wife.
The day he proposed to me was one of the happiest days of my life. Honestly, it felt like I had achieved everything I had been hoping for.
After the engagement, he came to see my parents to inform them of our plans to get married. Everything seemed perfect.

I cried so much that day and kept praying it was just a bad dream.
I called his friend again, and that was when he told me the truth.
He said my ex claimed he had found someone he truly loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with.
I almost fainted when I heard that. I was completely broken and depressed. The most painful part was that I still didn’t know what I did wrong.
Then just yesterday, exactly one week after he went to pay his girlfriend’s bride price, I suddenly started seeing his pictures everywhere online with “RIP” written on them.
At first, I didn’t believe it.
But after calling the right people to confirm, I was told that he was involved in a terrible car accident and passed away at the spot.
Honestly, I don’t even know how to feel right now… whether to be happy or sad.
May his soul rest in peace.
But at the same time, I thank God for everything. Because if things had gone the way I planned, I might have become a widow at a very young age.
