Ex-Governor Alao-Akala’s Widow, Family Fight Over Massive Assets In US, UK, Ghana, Nigeria
Members of the family of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, have dragged one another to court over a massive list of landed property by the late politician, spanning at least four countries.
Alao-Akala first served as Deputy Governor, before he was elected Governor of the state in 2007.
He served as a police officer before venturing into politics, and died on January 20, 2022 at the age of 72.
The former Governor’s widow, Mrs. Kemi Alao-Alaka, filed a lawsuit against his relations before the Oyo State High Court over the late former Governor’s properties.
However, the court, in its latest ruling in Ibadan, reportedly barred Kemi from selling, disposing of or entering into any form of transaction on the contested properties of the deceased pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Meanwhile, the suit had revealed the list properties owned by the late Alao-Akala in Nigeria as well as other countries such as Ghana, the United States, and the United Kingdom amongst others.
