Former President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Pastor Dr. Abraham Olukunle Akinosun, has died.
He reportedly died this weekend on Sunday March 22.
Akinosun, who headed CAC as President from 2012 to 2020, was 81 years old.
He earlier lost his wife, Mrs Victoria Adeyoola Akinosun, who died November 22, 2021, aged 75.
They got married in July 1971 and celebrated their 50 years of marriage in July 2021.
Making the announcement of the demise of Akinosun, the official statement by General Secretary of the Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor E.E. Mapur, said:
The Authority of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, announces the passing unto glory of her retired and former President, Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun.
‎Pastor Akinosun slept in the Lord this afternoon, March 22, 2026, at the age of 81.
‎Pastor Akinosun served as the 7th President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas from 2012 to 2020.
He was a devoted servant of God, a seasoned administrator, and a visionary leader whose tenure as President was marked by spiritual revival, doctrinal steadfastness, and organizational growth.
He served the Church with unwavering commitment, humility, and a deep passion for the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ until he attained the statutory retirement age of 75 in 2020.
‎Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun was born on 27th February 1945.
He had his primary education between 1955 and 1960.
Thereafter, he trained in the plumbing trade under the then Ibadan City Works from 1962 to 1965.
‎He passed his Grade II and Grade III Trade Tests in Plumbing and worked with several companies, including Drake and Scull Limited, Julius Berger, G. Cappa, and Italcom, among others.
He was called into the Gospel ministry in 1972 and attended the CAC Bible Training College from 1973 to 1975.
He served as a Catechist at CAC Oja-Odan.
Subsequently, he was posted to CAC Yaba.
In 1978, he travelled to Europe for further theological studies, studying in West Germany, Sweden, and Belgium.
While in Belgium, he attended the Continental Theological Seminary, where he obtained a degree in Biblical Studies.
He was ordained as a Pastor in 1981 and was posted to the CAC Epinmi Centre.
‎In 1982, he was transferred to the CAC Theological Seminary, Ile-Ife, as a Lecturer.
In 1984, he was posted to Pastor an assembly at the Polytechnic Ibadan campus.
In 1985, he was transferred to CAC Sango, Ibadan, and in 1991, he was promoted to the rank of District Superintendent and posted to CAC Itire, Lagos in that capacity.
‎In 2000, he was posted to CAC Osogbo DCC as Chairman, a position he held until his appointment as the General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide on 9th December 2010.
‎Pastor Akinosun was a renowned Author who published 12 books, including Pastoral Theology in Action, The Death of the Martyrs, The 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ, and Improve Your Preaching (Homiletics), among others.
He also served as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Osun State Chapter, from 2002 to 2010.
He was General Superintendent of the Church from 2011 to 2012 before being appointed President, serving from 2012 to 2020 until his retirement.
