Of all the things El-Rufai did while in power, I always remember his words regarding El-Zakzaky when he was detained and facing trial after the Zaria massacre.
El-Rufai vowed that as long as he was Governor of Kaduna State, El-Zakzaky would not be released despite public outcry or foreign pressure. He emphasized that release would only happen if a court acquitted him.
Today, El-Zakzaky spends his nights at home in Abuja after being freed by a court of law, while El-Rufai is the one facing trials.
Malam, be humble in this life. Life has many ways of teaching lessons. It is better to learn the easy way than the hard way.
