Israel Adesanya Suffers 4th Straight Defeat In TKO By Joe Pyfer

Israel Adesanya was stopped by Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle, as the Nigerian-born fighter endured a fourth consecutive loss in his MMA career.

Pyfer secured the biggest victory of his career with a second-round knockout, a result that lifts him into the UFC middleweight top four.

Adesanya, who has been on a difficult run since losing his title to Sean Strickland in September 2023, followed by defeats to Dricus du Plessis and Nassourdine Imavov exchanged strikes with Pyfer for much of the contest.

The fight turned in the second round when Pyfer took Adesanya’s back, controlled him on the ground and unleashed a series of punches, prompting referee Herb Dean to stop the bout at 4 minutes 18 seconds.

Despite the setback, Adesanya says he has no plans to retire and will continue his career.

An emotional Pyfer praised his opponent afterwards, saying: “God restored me, that’s the only reason I’m here.

Adesanya is one of the highest-IQ champions ever and the greatest middleweight of all time.”
