Troops, Using Drones, Track And Neutralise 4 Kidnappers in Plateau Forest Operation
Drone-assisted troops of Sector 9, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have neutralised four suspected kidnappers during a follow-up operation in Plateau State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 5:20 p.m. on April 29 in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
The sources disclosed that the troops, in collaboration with a STRATOC drone team and two previously arrested suspects, advanced to a suspected hideout following earlier arrests and recovery of ransom at Bauna village in Shendam Local Government Area on April 25.
According to the sources, troops made contact with the kidnappers at the hideout and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the neutralisation of four suspects.
They added that the two earlier apprehended suspects were among those neutralised while attempting to escape during the operation.
The sources noted that further exploitation of the area is ongoing to dismantle remaining criminal elements and enhance security in the general area.
