Singer Portable Beater, Streamer Carter Efe, Cries Out Over Unpaid N50m Boxing Prize Money
Carter Efe has cried out that he has yet to receive the N50 million prize promised after his victory over Portable in a celebrity boxing match recently held five days ago on Friday May 1.
Efe outpunched controversial singer Habib Okikiola, also known as Portable, in the bout held last Friday, clinching the top prize after a closely contested fight between the two entertainers.
In a new video shared on social media, Carter Efe expressed frustration over the situation, accusing the organisers of failing to honour their financial commitment.
He said the experience of the bout was physically demanding and insisted that the promised reward should be released.
“Dem never give me my money oo. I never see N50 million ooo. I nearly die for that fight, I never see the N50 million. Make dem pay me the N50 oo,” he lamented.
Days after the high-profile encounter, however, the comedian said the promised N50 million reward has yet to be paid, further fuelling controversy surrounding the event.
The development comes amid earlier remarks from Portable, who had questioned the outcome of the fight, alleging that the judges’ decision in favour of Carter Efe may have been influenced by the organisers.
Notably, immediately after the “Chaos in the Ring” bout, ace businessman Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, publicly pledged to redeem the N50 million prize promised to the winner.
“E-Money never fails when he promises. I’m ready to redeem that N50 million pledge. Congratulations to Carter Efe, the winner. It’s been a wonderful night of entertainment,” he said at the time.
Despite that assurance, there has been no official clarification regarding the delay, while neither the organisers nor Emeka Okonkwo has explained why the payment is yet to be made.
