Christians CAN Declares June 14 BLACK SUNDAY Over Terrorist Attacks

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared June 14, 2026 a “BLACK SUNDAY” to mourn victims of terrorist attacks across the country.

The association also said there would be a national prayer from June 12 to 14.

Speaking at the end of its National Church Denominational Leadership Summit 2026, CAN Chairman, His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said, however, that only prayers would tackle the security situation in the country.

He said there was the need for concrete actions to tackle the menace.

According to him, the Federal Government ought to declare a state of emergency on insecurity to bring the prevailing rein of terrorism and banditry to an end.

Okoh called for the acceleration of the creation of state police and decentralisation of security apparatus.

In addition, the CAN President called for the unconditional release of kidnapped victims in the country with justice implemented.
