Mass Defection Hits Ipokia LGA PDP As Bankole Leads Thousands Of Supporters To APC

A former State Publicity Secretary and former Director, Media and Communication of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun State chapter, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, has left the PDP with over 10,000 of his supporters spread across the 12 wards of Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking to his supporters at Idiroko, Ogun State early in the week, Asiwaju Bankole noted that the decision to leave the PDP with his teeming supporters was driven by desire to move on as political events in the last one year had reduced the PDP to a mere support group of the APC, thereby making the PDP a thoroughly dilapidated vehicle that could no longer guarantee his personal political growth, interest and aspirations

He expressed appreciation to the APC leadership in the state, especially the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, for welcoming him and his supporters into the APC fold.

The former Ogun PDP spokesman has, however, expressed his optimism that President Bola Tinubu, Senator Solomon Adeola and all other APC candidates will come out victorious in the forthcoming general elections.

Bankole congratulated Senator Adeola as the APC governorship candidate for Ogun State, saying the party made the right choice in the interest of the Gateway State

Reflecting on his political career, Bankole recalled serving in several positions under the PDP, including Personal Assistant to a former Chairman in Ipokia Government, State Publicity Secretary and Director, Media and Communication, before moving to the APC with his supporters.

He, however, appreciated the entire structure and leadership of the PDP for providing its shoulders for him to contribute to the party’s growth and general well-being in his own little way since he joined the party in 2002.

Speaking on the fast approaching electioneering campaigns, Bankole appealed to the different political parties and their candidates to focus on issue – based campaigns rather than campaigns of calumny and character assassination.

He used the opportunity to appeal to APC members who emerged victorious in the primaries to close ranks with those who were unsuccessful in the interest of ensuring the party’s success at the 2027 polls.

” I passionately appeal to those who have become the party’s candidates to extend an olive branch to those who were unsuccessful in the primaries and work together to ensure victory for the party,” he said

Bankole further appealed to all Nigerians to be security conscious and detest all forms of insecurity such as kidnappings, herdsmen attacks, banditry, armed robberies and thuggery as the nation approaches the 2027; electioneering campaigns
