Oba Of Benin Summons Spiritualists On Means To Tackle Insecurity
The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, has called an emergency meeting of traditional priests, priestesses, and native doctors on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Royal Palace to discuss traditional solutions to the growing insecurity in Edo State.
The meeting will focus on supporting ongoing government efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
The notice came in a statement signed by Chief Victor Nosakhare on behalf of Benin Traditional Council Secretary Frank Irabor on Friday.
According to the statement, the meeting would be held at 12p.m. sharp on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Oba’s Palace.
The palace said the meeting was being convened under the authority and directive of Oba Ewuare II and must be treated with utmost urgency.
According to the statement, it was aimed at exploring traditional means to complement government efforts in tackling insecurity.
