Kidnapped Pregnant Woman Released After Sunday Igboho Issued 2-Hour Ultimatum

Scenes of jubilation broke through the rural town of Igboho in Oyo State as the good news hit the citizens that bandits who kidnapped a pregnant woman on Saturday had released her before the expiration of a two-hour ultimatum given to them by Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The abductors of the pregnant woman and others had initially demanded a N300 million ransom before reducing it to N150 million.

However, Igboho stormed his hometown and gave the ultimatum to release the woman, her sister, and children to the leadership of the Fulani community without any ransom being paid.

Speaking at the palace of the monarch of the town, he accused the kidnappers of terrorising residents of the community.

According to him, the pregnant woman, her children, and sibling were kidnapped in the dead of night.

Fulani leaders in the town should take responsibility for securing the victims’ freedom and bear the burden of any ransom payment, he said after they were summoned to a meeting at the palace of the Onigboho of Igboho, Oba John Bolarinwa Olubuyi II.

Igboho said: “You can’t be kidnapping in my father’s land and expect me to keep quiet.

“I’m an original indigene of Igboholand.

“You kidnapped a pregnant woman, and the person who brought the ransom, you killed him.

“For what?

“In Igboho?

“You people are not even afraid of me in my father’s land?

“This should be the last and it must end.

“My father (the monarch) has urged me to address you people patiently.

“What I’m fighting in other people’s land, you can’t come here and be doing it in my father’s land.”
