Nigerian Caleb College Students Win World Best English, Maths Awards

Akota-Chika Serena of Caleb-British International School (CBIS), Magodo, Lagos and Tolulope Israel Adekimi of CBIS, Lekki, have emerged students with the highest mark in English Language and Mathematics respectively across the world in the 2025 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations conducted by Cambridge International Examination Council.

Akota-Chika won the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award for her exceptional performance in IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement), while Tolulope Adekimi won the same award in Mathematics in the Cambridge Examinations

Speaking on the feat, both Akota-Chika and Adekimi said it was made possible with the concerted efforts of both the highly skilled academic and non-academic staffs of the school who were committed not only to the educational development and well-being of the students, but also the production of quality manpower and capacity building for national advancement.

Reflecting on the recognition, the Director, Caleb Group of Schools, Dr. Ola Adebogun, noted that the students’ achievement had earned global recognition for Nigeria and the Caleb Group of Schools was proud of this as it underscored their intelligence and thorough preparation.

Adebogun stressed that the school’s conformity to quality standards with both Nigerian and British integrated curriculum had, no doubt, confirmed the institution’s core objective of ensuring the production of accomplished and ambitious young boys and girls of proven integrity who were ready to make significant contributions to the society.

He noted that CBIS, Magodo and CBIS, Lekki were established to develop every individual into a confident, happy and well-rounded child by instilling in him or her the realisation that it was the development of the mind and body, the enrichment of the intellect and a consideration for others that were foundation stones for ultimate success.

“At Caleb Group of Schools, we offer a competitive environment, yet one that actively seeks to promote achievement in every child and sometimes that achievement is simply by taking part and the opportunities and facilities we offer our children are second to none, hence our frequent success at both national and international levels, which speak for itself,” he said.

He further stressed that at Caleb Group of Schools, the management invested in cutting-edge teaching methods -from flipped classroom to AI-driven language labs to ensure every student could discover his or her potential and lead with confidence.

The renowned educationist cited the Caleb Group of Schools’ insistence on due process, recruitment of high quality staff and conformity to quality assurance standards stipulated by both the government and regulatory bodies as some of the things the management was doing to ensure its students excelled in all national and international examinations and competitions.

Adebogun further noted that the array of laurels won by the Group of Schools both in Nigeria and across the world was due to its foundation as a faith-based citadel of learning that offered balanced education that combined morals with quality teaching and affirmation that students learnt in a serene atmosphere conducive for learning.

“It is at Caleb Group of Schools that every child has a fair chance of fulfilling his or her dreams and here we offer a competitive environment where focussed young minds are nurtured to achieve their full potentials,” he stated

The Visitor to Caleb University further stressed that across the world and in every area of human endeavours, products of the Group of Schools had been found worthy both in character and learning, noting that the Group had been producing top-range boys and girls of rectitude who excelled in their further studies and were doing well in their respective endeavours: “At Caleb Group of Schools, we insist on doing it right always, more so that our core values are Godliness, innovation, service, integrity, teamwork, excellence and creativity.”
