This Impunity By A Group Of Lagos ADC Leaders At Ivory Hotel Can’t Stand, Say Concerned Party Members
PRESS STATEMENT
It has come to our attention that some influential leaders operating from the Ivory Hotel are inviting Lagos House of Assembly (HOA) candidates to a meeting with one of the aspirants from the disputed primary election, which remains the subject of ongoing litigation and is awaiting the court’s judgment.
This development raises serious questions. Is the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which recently benefited from a court judgment, now placing itself above the rule of law? Or have these leaders operating from the Ivory Hotel become so powerful and lawless that the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) can no longer call them to order?
As concerned members of the ADC who are committed to the party’s success in the 2027 general elections, we call on the NEC and NWC to immediately intervene and caution those behind these actions. This is necessary to preserve peace, protect the integrity of the party, and maintain confidence in the democratic process within the ADC.
The national leadership can no longer fold its arms while the electoral prospects of the Lagos State ADC are undermined by the greed, desperation, and poor judgment of a few individuals. These are some of the same political actors whose actions contributed to the failure of their former party in 2023. It would be unfortunate if they are allowed to replicate the same pattern within the ADC.
We therefore urge all duly elected winners of the ADC House of Assembly primaries to remain steadfast and avoid being drawn into any form of propaganda or unauthorized political meetings until the court delivers its judgment and the party officially releases its final list of candidates.
Respect for the rule of law and the party’s constitution must remain the guiding principle for all members. Only by upholding these values can the ADC remain united, credible, and well-positioned for victory in 2027.
