BREAKING: Actor ‘Ogogo’ Buried Amidst Weeping By Fellow Nollywood Stars, Family, Friends, Fans
The remains of the Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, were this morning laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State
He died in Sunday around 3pm in a Lagos hospital.
Aged 66, the prolific Yoruba Actor, Screenwriter and Director is survived by two wives and many children.
Mourners were seen carrying Ogogo’s remains towards the burial ground in accordance with Islamic rites.
The burial followed a lying-in-state ceremony held earlier on Monday in Ilaro, Ogogo’s hometown.
Ogogo’s close friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, was also seen crying as mourners consoled him.
Nollywood actors, including Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Madam Saje, Mr Latin and Toyosi Adesanya, had earlier arrived in Ilaro for the burial.
Also present were Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba, alongside other colleagues, family members and well-wishers.
In the weeks before his death, his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, said he was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for medical support.
Tributes have continued to pour in. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said Ogogo “brought laughter into countless homes” and “used his talent not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire social rebirth.”In Ilaro, Ogun State
The burial followed funeral prayers at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, with members of the Ilaro Muslim Community participating in the Janazah rites.
Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi also paid tribute to Ogogo during an interview with journalists ahead of the burial, praying for the deceased to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Ogogo’s death came days after his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance for their father, who had been battling stage-four cancer.
Kaira had disclosed that doctors informed the family that they could no longer administer chemotherapy because of his condition, prompting the family to seek other treatment options.
Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly known for his contributions to Yoruba-language films.
His career spanned more than four decades, during which he featured in hundreds of films and became one of the most recognisable actors in Yoruba cinema
