Ex-Gov El-Rufai’s Son Exposes Family Dirty Secrets
Bashir El-Rufai, a son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, today Saturday publicly accused his brother, House of Representatives member Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, of alcohol and cocaine use and of being unfit to represent constituents.
In a post on X early Saturday, Bashir wrote that he had “a useless excuse for a brother” whose face, he claimed, was “coated with an unknown white substance around his nostrils every night.”
He identified the target as “your Member in the House, representing a whole populace,” adding that the lawmaker “prefers alcohol and cocaine.”
He ended the post with: “Yes, you.”
He later doubled down in follow-up posts, repeating claims that his brother was “on colos” and on “a diet of cocaine and whiskey,” and referring to him as “one bony skinny” man “high on his diet of whiskey and cocaine.”
Mohammed Bello El-Rufai represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency and serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations.
He is the eldest son of Nasir El-Rufai and Hadiza Isma El-Rufai.
There was no immediate public response from Bello to the Saturday posts at the time of writing.
The exchange is not the first public clash between the brothers.
Nigerian media have previously reported on vulgar and politically charged exchanges involving Bashir and Bello on X, which drew national attention to the family’s online conduct.
The latest posts also land amid a busy political period for Bello.
He recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has said he will seek re-election for Kaduna North in 2027.
The allegations remain unproven social-media claims made by a family member.
They have not been independently verified, and no law-enforcement confirmation of drug use has been attached to the Saturday posts.
