UNILAG Alumnus And Katsina Ex-Senator Bello Mandiya Dies At 62

 

Former Senator Bello Mandiya of the Ninth National Assembly has passed away at the age of 62.

Mandiya, who represented the Katsina South Senatorial District  died on Monday, September 7, 2026, in Abuja, according to a Monday statement by the state government.

It disclosed no cause of death.

A UNILAG Alumnus, Mandiya read Mass Communication at the University of Lagos.

He served in the National Assembly from 2019 to 2023.

The former Senator is expected to be buried in the nation’s capital.

His funeral prayer is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja.

Katsina State’s Governor Dikko Radda described Mandiya’s passing as “a great loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.”

Radda noted that the late Senator dedicated his life to public service and served with commitment at both the state and federal levels.

Before his election to the Senate in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mandiya served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari.

He lost his bid for re-election in 2023 after falling short in the APC primary election.
