Mockery Trails Tinubu As France President Macron Attends UNGA Leaving Holidaying Nigerian President In Paris (CARTOONS)
President Bola Tinubu is facing heavy mockery on social media after French President Emmanuel Macron departed Paris for New York to attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), leaving Tinubu behind in France during his extended working vacation.
Tinubu had an initial private dinner with Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on September 18.
Shortly after, The Presidency of Nigeria announced that Tinubu would skip the UNGA gathering in New York, with Vice President Kashim Shettima leading Nigeria’s delegation instead.
President Macron subsequently left France for the United States to address world leaders at the UNGA, leaving the Nigerian president continuing his stay in France.
Citizens and social media users flooded platforms with jokes, sarcastically suggesting that Tinubu was left behind to act as the “caretaker” or “acting president of France” while Macron is away.
Opposition groups, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticized the move as a national disgrace and embarrassment, pointing out that both the President and Vice President were out of the country while Nigerians face severe economic hardships and insecurity./INTERNET SOURCES
