Group Launches ‘Tinubu Must Stay’ Campaign In Jigawa
A political group, Tinubu Must Stay (TMS), has declared support for a second term for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group’s convener, Engr. Ibrahim Said Uba from Jigawa State, stated this on Tuesday while addressing journalists.
Uba said the group was formed to campaign for Tinubu to continue beyond 2027, citing ongoing federal infrastructure projects as justification.
He listed the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and the Kano-Jigawa-Katsina-Maradi railway project, claiming “substantial progress” on the Kano-Jigawa section. He also pointed to railway construction along the Kano-Gaya axis.
On the economy, Uba acknowledged that food prices, including millet, maize, sorghum and rice, had spiked in previous years, but said the current administration is intervening through fertilizer and farm input distribution to boost food security.
He conceded that insecurity remains unresolved.
Uba took a swipe at opposition figures campaigning under the slogan “Tinubu Must Go,” urging them to study Nigeria’s political history. He referenced former President Muhammadu Buhari, who he said got Southern support to complete eight years in office.
He also criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent call to return fuel subsidy, asking how it would be funded and its long-term economic impact.
“Those making the slogan ‘Tinubu Must Go’ should go back and study our political history and avoid unnecessary sentiments,” he said.
According to him, APC governors are “working together” to address national challenges, and Nigerians should not accept political promises without details on implementation.
Uba claimed the TMS movement was initiated long before the current wave of 2027 campaigns, and called on undecided voters to “examine the records.”/INDEPENDENT
