Presidency Tired of Nonsense: Okorocha Celebrates After Flooring Gov Uzodinma In Court Over Imo West APC Ticket
Former Imo State’s Governor Rochas Okorocha has reacted to the Federal High Court judgement which stripped the incumbent, Hope Uzodinma, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Imo West Senatorial District.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Beneficiary of the judgement, Okorocha said justice had finally prevailed.
Okorocha recalled how “one person” allegedly wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth in an election to become number one, describing what happened in Imo West as similar.
“I appreciate the Nigerian Judiciary, and it is evident that the Presidency is tired of this nonsense,” Okorocha said.
“Justice has finally prevailed. This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become Number One.”
In his ruling, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered the incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop parading himself as the APC candidate for the January 16, 2027 senatorial election.
The Judge gave the orders in his judgement on a suit filed by Okorocha challenging Uzodinma’s recognition as the party’s candidate.
Justice Egwuatu held that evidence before the court established that Okorocha won the May 18, 2026 APC primary election monitored by INEC.
The court consequently directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the election
The court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to publish Okorocha’s name as the party’s authentic candidate.
Okorocha commended the Judiciary for standing on the side of justice and said the judgement has shown that the presidency is tired of impunity.
He urged his supporters in Imo West to remain calm and celebrate the victory.
Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, 63, was the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District at the Ninth Nigerian Senate.
From 2011 to 2019 he served as Governor of Imo State.
