Gas explosion has killed a couple, identified as Chioma and George, in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
Social media postings identified the woman as sister of Nigerian ace musician, Patoranking.
The spokesperson of Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
Chioma was said to have died five days after the explosion while the husband succumbed to injuries sustained from the blast on Wednesday, September 11, in the hospital.
The explosion reportedly broke out a few days after the couple moved into their new residence in Abakiliki.
“The preliminary report shows that it was a gas explosion that killed Chioma and not dynamite or battery, although further investigation is still ongoing,” the PPRO said.
On the couple’s wedding day, the singer after performing a few of his songs, gave husband and wife a car as their wedding gift.
