Some people keep talking about “airplane mode” let me explain something simple to y’all. Not every aircraft is equipped to handle “airplane mode” that whole technology is relatively new and it mostly comes with the newer aircrafts quipped with cellphone signal blockers. Have you ever entered a plane and while you’re still on the tarmac your cellphone stops working even before take off? Well it’s because that aircraft is quipped with a cellular blocker and the pilot has already turned it on.
Which means he doesn’t really care what you do with your phone. Those are the planes that allow “airplane mode”
Have you noticed that in the same aircraft as soon as you’re landing your cellphone starts working even before you even hit the runway ? It’s because the blockers have been turned off.
If you’re in a plane without this technology, which is most of the older smaller planes used for local flights in Africa, you will be required to completely power down your phone for take off and landing. That’s why you must listen to the flight crew when instructed.
The purpose of having all cellphones powered off, is to ensure the strongest cellular signal is reserved for the aircraft technology and pilots. Every plane is quipped with a cellular mechanism, it’s a very powerful system used to communicate with air traffic controllers in airports around the world in case of an emergency, GPS systems, autopilot, mayday calls and to get permission for takeoff and landing. That cellular signal can be over loaded by passenger cell users.
You don’t want your plane cellular system to fail to work when your pilot is trying to get clearance for take off or landing then you end up with a collusion or loose the GPS system and end landing in Atlantic Ocean instead of Abuja 🤷🏿♂️.. have you ever got lost using GPS ? 🤔.. imagine it’s a plane vs mountain.
The fact that the most dangerous time for any flight is takeoff and landing, it’s usually the time when accidents tend to happen yet it’s also the only time the pilots can mitigate the loss of life. That’s why most airports are located near water and all aviation instructions only talk about rescue in case of “water landing” no one wants to talk about mountain or desert landing rescue because there is no such a thing.
Any other accident it’s between you and your God. There is nothing the pilots can do for you that’s why it’s imperative that this cellular signal is not obstructed by competing cellphone users.
Guys just power down your phone when instructed. You will not die if you don’t edit your pics for 10 mins
