The final funeral prayers for boxing former world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua’s two pals, Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif Kevin Ayodele, killed in a motor accident in Nigeria, will take place today Sunday, January 4.
Their bodies were repatriated to the United Kingdom at the weekend.
The service will begin at 10am at the London Central Mosque, 146 Park Road, London NW8 7RG, according to a Saturday statement by Boxing King, Joshua’s managers.
The accident occurred Monday December 29, 2025 on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in the Makun area of Ogun State, when the Lexus SUV bearing Anthony Joshua collided with a stationary truck, killing his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele, at the scene.
Joshua has returned to the United Kingdom for the event.
The 36-year-old boxer was discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve.
“Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has flown back to the UK after a fatal car crash that killed two of his close friends in Nigeria,” a BBC report read.
The driver of the car involved in the crash, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged by Nigerian police for causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a licence, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed on Friday.
Kayode was granted bail in the sum of N5 million and remanded pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
The case has been adjourned until January 20.
The crash came just 10 days after Joshua’s knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami.
