A chieftain in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has insisted that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of the Interior, was instrumental to the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government in Lagos between 1999 and 2007.
The APC leader, craving anonymity, further debunked the impression that the ex-Osun Governor was one of Tinubu’s “boys”.
He rather disclosed that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s indelible footprints are visible through the meaningful infrastructure, such as roads across Lagos and Health Centres that targeted well being of Lagos ‘sprawling communities in Alimosho, etc.
The politician said that as Commissioner of Works, Ogbeni Aregbesola touched Lagos like Midas, alongside political icons.
On whether it was Asiwaju that ensured Aregbesola’s ministerial appointment as Minister of Interior during ex President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency, Timeswatch gathered that when Aregbesola took his Resume to Asiwaju for submission to Buhari, for possible appointment, Tinubu rejected it, and told him to go and rest.
Sequel, we learnt that Ex President Buhari personally requested Aregbesola’s service in that critical ministry.
Historically, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was a darling of Lagos for his spectacular inputs into the democratic architecture which ushered in excellence in Lagos when democracy returned in 1999; same standard he replicated in Osun as a rising statesman.
Aregbesola was later to exhibit such golden traits through his notable reforms as the Minister of Interior.
