Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, has dismissed eyebrows being raised over reports of the Nigerian Army running a School of Islamic Studies.
Buba said the Force had an equivalent institution for Christians.
An X posting on Thursday by the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had said the Nigerian Army ran the Islamic school without an equivalent for Bible believers.
However, Buba clarified the issue when he spoke at the Strategic Inter-agency Policy Committee briefing at Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Terming those asking questions as to why the Nigerian Army established a School of Islamic Affairs as missing the point, Buba said the Military also had in place, a school of Chaplaincy for Christians.
“Being in the military does not make us not to be religiously inclined. There is always room for improvement, to be better informed and educated on what you preach and talk about to the people.”
