Grammy nominee Asake has been recognized as Nigeria’s top-selling artiste for 2024, surpassing the country’s major music icons.
Ayra Starr won the Number One female artiste in Nigeria for 2024.
Based on the yearly chart by Nigeria’s leading music publication, TurnTable, Asake emerged as the top artiste, achieving an impressive third straight year as the overall No. 1 performer.
According to the publication, Ayra Starr, 22, secured her position as the most commercially successful female artiste in the country last year.
This accomplishment makes Asake the first Nigerian artiste to secure the top spot for three consecutive years.
Throughout 2024, Asake’s works, including his earlier albums Mr. Money With The Vibe (MMWTV) and Work of Art, continued to perform well, maintaining strong positions in the top ten of the Official Top 100 Albums chart.
His third album, Lungu Boy, stood out as the defining project of the year, holding the No. 1 spot for 15 weeks and finishing as the best-selling album of 2024, despite being released in August.
For the second year in a row, Asake was crowned the No. 1 radio artiste of 2024, finishing with the highest total chart points on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart.
His hit collaboration “MMS” with Wizkid topped the Year-End Afro-R&B chart and made a strong debut at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart, where it stayed for three weeks.
On streaming platforms, Asake’s dominance was undeniable. He wrapped up 2024 as the top artiste on Apple Music, with Lungu Boy leading the charge. The album also dominated Audiomack, and Asake was named the No. 1 artiste on YouTube in Nigeria.
Her remarkable success in 2024 was driven by the release of her highly acclaimed sophomore album The Year I Turned 21. The album featured notable collaborations with Nigerian artistes Asake and Seyi Vibez, as well as international stars like Giveon, Coco Jones, and Aniita. It received widespread praise as one of the top albums of the year.
Ayra’s singles, such as “Comma” and “Bad Vibes” featuring Seyi Vibez, became some of the most-streamed songs of 2024. The album was also the most-streamed on Spotify, amassing over 700 million streams, with additional attention from her collaboration on Rvssian’s Santa.
She closed out the year with a headline performance at Flytime Fest, where she shared the stage with Tiwa Savage and Rema.
