Publisher of the Champion newspapers and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo apex social-political group, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has died.
The 82-year old business mogul, astute politician,.former presidential aspirant and founder of the Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club passed away in Abuja, earlier today Thursday around 11am.
According to a statement by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, he died following a brief illness.

The Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State announces the demise of our Patriach Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo.
Chief Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday July 25, 2024 after a brief illness.
He was aged 82.
Chief Iwuanyanwu before his death was President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and President of Owerri People’s Assembly.
Chief Iwuanyanwu is survived by his wife Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, many children and grandchildren including Dr Mrs. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa – Managing Director, Champion Group of Newspapers.
Details of the burial will be announced later by the family after due consultations.
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was born on Friday, September 4, 1942 to Pa Bernard Iwuanyanwu and Madam Hulder Iwuanyanwu of Umuohii Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State
An astute businessman and consummate politician, Iwuanyanwu attended University of Nigeria Nsukka, among other institutions.
He was at various times a member of the then All Peoples Party (APP) and later, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was the Chairman of Hardel and Enic, a civil construction company.
