Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba has died this morning.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives was aged 65.

Last year, social media circulated a video clip of him outside Nigeria walking rather sluggishly with a cane and a little girl accompanying him.

The eighth Speaker of Nigeria’s Lower Chamber died, in a hospital at Abuja, the nation’s capital, this Wednesday morning around 3am, after suffering an unnamed sickness, going by initial reports.

Na’Abba was born on September 27, 1958.

The Kano-born politician succeeded disgraced Speaker Salisu Buhari, who was removed following a Toronto certificate scandal.

Na’Abba subsequently served till 2003.

He had been elected to represent Kano Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives in 1999.

He was born into the family of Alhaji Umar Na’Abba, a businessman in Tudun Wada, Kano City, Kano Municipal Local Government on 27 September 1958.

He was aged 65.
