Former Oyo State’s Governor Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo died today Sunday morning in Ibadan, the capital.
The Second Republic Governor for three months died eight days short of his 90th birthday on April 14.
A brief statement from the family this morning on Sunday stated: “Omololu Olunloyo passed on to eternal glory at 1 40 am on the 6th of April 2025.
“We thank God for a life well spent.
“May the Lord Jesus rest his soul.”
A Mathematician turned politician, he was born 14th April 1935.
He served as the Governor of Oyo State from 1st October 1983 to 31st December 1983, when the military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari seized power and truncated the democracy of the Second Republic.
He later became a chieftain in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
He was married to two wives with 10 children, including controversial Internet Journalist, Ms Kemi Olunloyo.
