BREAKING: Senate, Reps Postpone Resumption By 2 Further Weeks To October 7

Both chambers of Nigeria’s National Assembly have shifted their resumption of plenary to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Originally billed to resume from their two-month break today Tuesday, September 23, 2025,

the Senate and the House of Representatives have been on vacation since July 24.

In a statement, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, said the postponement was made at the directive of both chambers.

However, committee activities would continue as scheduled.

The statement reads:
“I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the Resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday 23rd September 2025 is postponed to Tuesday 7th October 2025.”

“However, committee activities continue.

“All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are requested to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules accordingly,.

“Any inconvenience caused by this rescheduling is deeply regretted.”
