A young bride has reportedly murdered her husband just nine days after their wedding in the Farawa community in Kano State.
Salisu Idris Ibrahim and Saudat Jibrin Adamu were joined in the Muslim Fathia nuptials organized by their two families on April 27.
However, things went bad, according to reports, on the night of Monday, May 5, 2025.
Eyewitness accounts and local sources reveal that the bride first poisoned her husband by serving him a lemon drink suspected to have been laced with toxic substances.
Afterward, she allegedly slit his throat in what residents are describing as a brutal and calculated attack.
The marriage, which took place on Sunday, April 27, was reportedly arranged among relatives.
Sources close to the family allege that there was no strong affection between the couple and that the groom was persuaded into accepting the union.
Angry community youth in the neighborhood attempted to take justice into their own hands following the incident.
However, swift intervention by security operatives prevented a possible mob action.
The suspect has since been taken into custody, though authorities have yet to disclose her current location, likely to prevent further unrest.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
