Afrobeat musician, Fela, was charged and jailed by the military regime of General Buhari in 1985 for alleged currency trafficking, after being arrested travelling abroad for a musical gig with his band at the Lagos international airport in Ikeja.

As prominent officers of the Nigerian Medical Association Professor Olikoye Ransome-Kuti and his younger brother, Beko Ransome-Kuti, both doctors, also had confrontations with the military regime, leading to spells in detention.

The two-term Nigerian leader died in a London clinic on Sunday July 13.

“The point is some fools want people to celebrate him,” he said in an Instagram video posting, and accused Buhari of dealing and damaging the famous Lagos-Abeokuta family.

According to Seun, the late leader caused more damage in his family than any other family in Nigeria during his tenure as Head of State.

He, however, stated that Buhari’s death did not amount to justice for the crimes he allegedly committed against his family.

Speaking in the video broadcast, the singer said, “There’s nobody Buhari has offended and damaged like my family. Buhari dealt with my family, but his death is not any type of justice or victory for my family.

“My only regret is that my dad Fela, and my uncles Koye and Beko died before him; all better men than him. The only solace I can take from his death is that the three of them will gang up against him in the after-life if there’s such a thing.”
