Some 16 people have been killed in an accident on the Ore-Benin expressway following a head-on collision of two vehicles.
It was gathered that the crash involved an 18-passenger Totota Hiace bus and a truck.
The two vehicles were said to have had a head-on collision leading to the bus catching fire and burning 16 of its occupants.
The Ondo command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said today that the accident, which occurred at 8pm on Monday night, also left three people injured.
According to the spokesperson for the FRSC Ondo command, Samuel Ibitoye, the collision involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck near the Ajue community.
“The accident involved a Toyota Hiace and a truck. Two passengers managed to escape the tragedy.”
FRSC reports blamed the crash on careless overtaking and excessive speeding.
