The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) , Honourable Philip Olabode Aivoji has disassociated the State Executive Committee of the party from the purported inauguration of party congresses committee by the Chief Bode George group as reported by a section of the media a few days ago.
Aivoji, who made these remarks during a chat with newsmen at Ikeja, Lagos State on Friday, described such action as illegal, unconstitutional and not authorized by the party hierarchy
He further stated that the party did not authorize any faction or group of people to carry out such inauguration because such an act is the sole constitutional responsibility of the National Working Committee and the State Executive Committee of the Party.
The Lagos State PDP helsman, therefore, implored party members to ignore and discountenance the purported unconstitutional inauguration of the said screening committee.
Aivoji noted that the composition and inauguration of the such committee by Chief George is a fragrant usurpation of the constitutional duties of the National and State Working Committees of the Party and thereby null and void and of no effect as it has no constitutional foundation.
He further reiterated that the party is a law-abiding entity rooted in norms and customs, which dictate the standard of behaviours expected of its members, inclusive of the Elders in the Party, and would not tolerate any unconstitutional act from any of its members
He said the party, however, enjoins all well meaning party faithfuls to remain calm and vigilant and await further directives from the National Working Committee of the State Executive Committee of the party
