The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has turned down an application by former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to travel to the United Kingdom for a medical checkup.
In his ruling, Justice Hamza Muazu ruled that Emefiele failed to supply sufficient evidence to show that the medical trip was unavoidable.
According to him, although Emefiele claimed there was an invitation to travel abroad for medical attention, the banker failed to tender a copy.
Holding that Emefiele was also facing charges in three other courts, Muazu also found that Emefiele did not show that his ailment could not be attended to locally.
