The Federal High Court in Abuja has approved the relocation of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters.
Presiding Justice James Omotosho issued the directive on the grounds that the relocation became necessary to facilitate the inspection of a shipping container linked to Kanu.
This decision means that subsequent proceedings will take place at the DSS facility rather than the Federal High Court premises in Abuja.
Kanu’s trial has drawn national attention due to its political sensitivity and the high-profile nature of the IPOB movement.
The container was said to have been used by Kanu to bring a radio transmitter into Nigeria for broadcast on Radio Biafra.
The IPOB leader is currently facing trial for terrorism due to his push for the actualization of Biafra.
