In 2014

The great Soyinka said Nigeria was a furnace.

He said the poor masses were like Shedrack, Mishak and Abednego without any hope of a miracle

Then all progressives agreed with Soyinka because President Jonathan was deemed fantastically corrupt and clueless

Nobody felt Soyinka was chasing away foreign investors

In 2024 ,

Davido said the the economy of Nigeria was in shambles

Indeed the poor can’t buy food

The sick can’t buy drugs

Except they are like Tinubu and Buhari who go to London at poor people’s expense to treat malaria

I don’t believe they are seriously ill.

Davido didn’t call Tinubu a Herod

Soyinka called Jonathan a Nebuchadnezzar

And Jonathan’s wife a shepopotamus

The progressives relished the political poetry of Soyinka and these pejorative tags

But now they can’t stand the political rhymes of Davido

And Davido hasn’t even gone skelewu on Tinubu

Soyinka was right. Nigeria was deteriorating under Jonathan

Davido is right. Tinubu has messed up the Nigerian economy.

Tinubu is preaching reforms and practicing wanton prodigality and relentless parapoism

Tinubu’s Nigeria is a thousand times worse than Jonathan’s Nigeria

Unfortunately the great Soyinka has gone mute

So poor Davido has stepped in to speak the truth

The problem is that many of these characters who call themselves Progressives

Are just noisy political fanatics with switched off moral compasses betrothed to one or two personality cults.

Herd mentality. Outstanding ignorance. Shallow emotionalism.

They can’t see that Tinubu who is turning Nigeria into a Yoruba PLC for blatantly selfish reasons needs to be challenged to do better and unite the country to find some cohesion.
